Intridea Develops Oil Reporter App to Help Speed GulfCoast Cleanup
Intridea develops robust and customweb and mobile applications for businesses, non‐profits and users around the world.This year we have had two opportunities to create applications thatassist in disaster and crisis relief efforts. Early this year in the aftermath of the devastatingearthquake in Haiti, Intridea donated its services to create Tradui, a mobileCreole‐Englishtranslator designed to help on‐the‐ground aid workers in the midst ofthe crisis. Then, in April, the Deep Horizon disaster struck. In justthree days, our team of talented developers created Oil Reporter(http://www.oilreporter.org), a mobile application that enables peoplealong the Gulf Coast to report on affected areas of the oil spill usingtheir iPhones and Android devices. Read more… The Future of Disaster Response Apps By creating mobile applications fordisaster response efforts, Intridea has been able to empower residents,business owners and officials from governments and NGOs in thesedevastated areas to be a part of the solution. We are beginning tounderstand the emerging and dire need for location‐based mobile applications in therelief and disaster response field. To further meet these types of needs, Intridea is workingon a white‐labelsolution for location‐based mobile apps so that they can be developed anddeployed even more rapidly as part of a comprehensive crisis responseeffort. Pete helps ensure ourprojects are delivered on-time, on-budget, with great quality, and withgreat client satisfaction. Formerly Vice President of Engineering at Kajeet, Inc.,Pete is an active member of the Rails community. He has been building anddelivering web and mobile-based solutions since 1995. His technicalpassions include geospatial programming, the VoteFu Rails plug-in,anything to do with jQuery, and the fanatical removal of cruft.
