Making Your Mark on the Digital Movie Business: The Road to Success
Scott Ross, Executive Advisor at Savannah College of Art and Design and a digital media veteran has led companies to more than 15 Academy Award nominations and seven Oscars. From his start at Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic to his successful creation and leadership of Digital Domain, one of the largest and most respected digital production studios in the motion picture industry, Ross has been a pioneer and groundbreaking visionary.

Focus on Astro Boy by Imagi Studio
In "Astro Boy": Updating a 2D Icon to Modern CG, you will learn of the creative steps required to bring Astro Boy into a 3D world. In this session Tim Cheung, the Vice President Animation at Imagi Animation Studios, reviews the filmmakers' decision-making process as they translated a 2D icon into 3D and the animation tests they used to develop the "Astro Boy" characters.
The two-part session The Production of "Astro Boy": Asset Creation and Cloud FX gives a Behind-the-Scene look on the production workflow at Imagi Studios.
Encountering the Cutting Edge of Japanese Video Game Development
A panel from leading Japanese game companies including Konami Digital Entertainment, NAMCO BANDAI, Square Enix, and Tecmo Koei Holdings speaks on the trends and commitments to technical development in the video game industry in Japan. You can also learn from examples of game products to explain how the Japanese game industry heightens visual values and conveys a unique visual expression.

Cross Boundaries with High-Speed Internet Presentations
In Networked Dome Theater, you can enjoy a demonstration of very-high-resolution images in a nine-meter dome. This project is presented by the Graduate School of Media Design, Keio University in collaboration with other organizations. It features spherical images of a total solar eclipse and other phenomena provided by a 4K projector streaming over a 10-gigabit network from a remote dome environment in Osaka.
In Live Microscope Streaming from USC School of Cinematic Arts, live high-definition images of common pond-water micro-organisms and the surfaces of some common objects are streamed from a RED One camera interfaced to an optical microscope at the University Of Southern California School Of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles.
This demonstration illustrates how a group at a distant location can participate in a discussion about subjects under the microscope via high-speed research networks in real time. It is the first trans-Pacific demonstration of streaming live RED One camera images from a microscope.
